EDUCATION
OFFERS HOPE
We believe in the potential of education, and the hope it offers, as part of our societal response to the climate emergency. We believe in the potential of schools and universities as places where people can work to make sense of what is happening, to form community, and to take climate action.
A COMMUNITY
OF PRACTICE
Our education systems can play an important role as part of a wider societal response to Climate Change. We are a Community of Practice that is working together to empower teachers, students and scientists to realise that ambition.
Our work is guided by an easy-to-use process. Participatory Action Learning and Action Research (PALAR) offers space to think deeply, collaborate, try ideas, and to learn. Central to its success is the diversity of expertise that teachers, student-teachers, scientists and education researchers bring.
We’ve found ourselves challenging many of the fundamentals of our education system and its purposes in our society. We know simple tweaks or stand-alone education resources just won’t cut it for an issue as complex as climate change.
WHAT WE
ARE TRYING

Our community is committed to reimagining education as a catalyst for climate action. By embracing multi-disciplinary approaches, nurturing creative and critical thinking, and supporting teachers, we strive to empower the next generation to lead the charge towards a sustainable future. Join us in our mission to transform education and address the urgent challenges of the climate emergency.
In the face of the climate emergency, education emerges as a critical tool for fostering meaningful responses. At our community, comprised of scientists, teachers, and education researchers, we are actively exploring innovative approaches to integrate sustainability into the curriculum. Today, we delve into our ongoing projects aimed at empowering teachers and students to engage with climate action education across various disciplines.
Our community is experimenting with a few ideas that have emerged from our conversations. You might like to try them or form a community like ours to imagine others.
